Biography
Antonia Eilers is a contemporary painter, born in 1983 in Hamburg, Germany, and currently residing in Schleswig-Holstein. She is known for her characteristic figurative language, which depicts Humans, animals and landscapes, and unconventional themes with subtle twists. Eilers primarily works on canvas and wooden panels, primarily using oil and acrylic paints.
At the center of Eilers' artistic practice is the exploration of the relationship between living beings and their environment, addressing her perspective on the contemporary Zeitgeist. Her works are snapshots that can completely transform in the next moment. They possess a narrative aspect and are never fully realized, both in meaning and artistic execution.
Eilers is particularly interested in the self-understanding of nature, which operates flawlessly in its complexity without doubt and exhibits a fundamental immediacy. This contrasts with the reflective human, who often appears disoriented because this self-understanding has eluded them. Coming from a large patchwork family, she intensely engages with human relationships and social dynamics. In her paintings, she captures these themes almost playfully, incorporating a comic-like brushstroke while always presenting an unresolved, mysterious aspect that makes her works often feel incompletely complete in their execution.
Eilers' works have been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions and are represented in various private collections worldwide. Additionally, Eilers has completed the Rosa Loy Masterclass at the Kunstakademie Bad Reichenhall.
